In July of 2012 Nellis Construction was awarded the contract to strip 60,000 m3 of overburden from the next phase of this quarry operation. The overburden was loaded and hauled to an on-site location. A Caterpillar M318 Excavator with a ditching bucket was used to clean the remainder of the overburden down to the solid rock for extraction.
